Summit County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society

General Info

The Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society was chartered 17 April 1971.  SCCOGS is a non-profit organization incorporated under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).  The Society is an all volunteer organization which is supported by dues and donations.
 
The purpose of the Society is to:
  • provide educational opportunities for genealogy and family history researchers
  • collect, preserve and publish genealogical information for Summit County and Ohio
Meetings
 
Meetings are held the third Saturday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St., in downtown Akron.  There are no meetings in August, November or December.  We hold our annual banquet in November.  Our meetings are open to the public - you don't have to be a member to attend.
