Probate Records

Probate records vary in content and format depending on County or State.  Probate records can include wills, inventories, letters of administration and guardianship. 
 
Probate records often give the specific relationship of the heirs to the deceased.  They also may give information on the present or former residence of the deceased or the heirs. 
 
Probate records for Summit County are located at the Courthouse.

The Will Book Index has an alpha listing of all names covered in the Will Books, with the volume, page and date of probate.  There is also an Addendum, at the end, which lists original wills that had not been copied by the clerks.
